Hyderabad: First phase of Local Bodies polls in 32 districts today recorded at the voter turnout of about 75 per cent according to information. The polls held for 2096 MPTC and 195 ZPTC in the first phase in peaceful manner as the officials made necessary arrangements. While polls were held till 4 pm in Maoist effected places the same were held in other places till 5 pm. By 3 pm the voter turnout was 68.33 per cent and rose beyond 70 per cent by 5 pm.
The officials have monitored the polls through web casting as the people lined up in queues to cast their votes at polling centres. Even old aged, women and disabled participated in the polls for local bodies daring scorching heat. The officials informed that 70 per cent polling recorded at Maoist effected 75 ZPTCs and 640 MPTCs. The polls for second phase will be on May 10 and third phase on 14 and results will be on May 27. (NSS)
