Talasani Srinivas Yadav Minister of Telangana Animal Husbandry who held a review meeting with all the concerned departments heads and officials to provide all the necessary amenities for the distribution of the famous ‘fish prasadam’ in the city on June 8.
The distribution of ‘fish prasadam’, to be held at the exhibition ground at Nampally here, attracts hundreds of people every year from Telangana and other parts of the country.
The annual fish Prasadam (medicine), claimed to cure asthma and respiratory illnesses will be administered to asthama patients free of cost by Bathini brothers on Mrigasira Karthi Day at Exhibition Grounds in Nampally.
Bathini Harinath Goud along with his family members including B Shivanand Goud said that fish medicine is given on the day of Mrigasira Karti, which marks the onset of monsoon according to Hindu calendar.
On that day, Bathini brothers insert a yellow herbal paste into the mouth of a live fingerling. This live fish is then slipped into the throat of a patient. For vegetarian patients, the family would prepare separate medicine with jaggery. However, vegetarians need to take the medicine for a longer period, Harinath Goud said.
