Forum for Good Governance urges Minister KTR to appoint food inspectors

Hyderabad: City-based Forum For Good Governance (FGG) today wrote a letter to state minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development and urged him to take steps for the immediate appointment of food inspectors in the state. It told the minister that the 20 selected food inspectors recruited by Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) were waiting for postings for the last six months. The forum urged the minister to issue appointment letters to them and provide training to them.

In the letter, the secretary of the forum M. Padmanabha  Reddy urged the minister to also set up a special flying squad to prevent food adulteration in the state besides establishing another testing lab. The secretary told the minister that the cases of food adulteration were going up in the state but added that there was no cell to lodge complaints on the issue.

He said that the forum had been fighting on the issue since the year 2015 and also filed public interest litigation in the apex court of the state. He referred to the statement of the CM of the state KCR, who once said that the people of the state were forced to eat the adulterated food out of compulsion and lack of alternative, in his letter. He urged the minister to set up a complaint cell in all the districts of the state for the convenience of the people.
