Gajjela accuses Uttam of destroying Congress

Hyderabad: Congress official spokesperson Gajjela Kantham on Friday leveled severe allegations against TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy. He alleged that the TPCC chief had destroyed the party in the State completely and added that this was in clear contrast with the efforts of party’s national president Rahul Gandhi to strengthen it across the country.

Addressing mediapersons, Gajjela wanted to know as to why Uttam did not tender his resignation from the post even after facing humiliating defeat in the just-concluded Assembly elections. “Former PCC president Ponnala Laxmaiah had managed  to secure 21  seats for the party in 2014 Assembly elections. But, the present PCC Chief Uttam could not even surpass that number. The party has won only 19 seats under his leadership. Ponnala was forced to resign by taking moral responsibility for the defeat of the party and I want to know if the same rule applies to Uttam  or not,” he said while noting that the party was able to win only two divisions in GHMC elections under Uttam’s leadership.

He alleged that the SCs, STs and BCs of the State were not accepting the leadership of Uttam in Telangana and that the election result was the proof of it. (NSS)
