GEF India Unveils Freedom Park in Kukatpally, Promoting Green Space and Community Wellness

In an initiative aimed at enhancing community wellness and promoting green spaces in urban neighborhoods, Freedom Park was officially unveiled at Balajinagar in Kukatpally. The newly developed park, created by Gemini Edibles & Fats India Limited (GEF India), makers of Freedom Healthy Cooking Oils, is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program. With an investment of Rs 2.76 crore, the park provides a welcoming space for relaxation, exercise, play, and social gatherings.

The inauguration ceremony was led by Akshay Chowdhry, Group Vice President of GEF India, and P. Chandra Shekhara Reddy, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing at GEF India. Representatives from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), along with local residents, attended the event to mark the launch of the vibrant community hub.

“Through Freedom Park, we aim to provide a serene environment that brings people closer to nature and promotes a healthy lifestyle,” said Chowdhry. “This park is a testament to our commitment to community development and the creation of green, wellness-centric spaces.”

Freedom Park boasts a variety of facilities, making it a multi-functional space for residents of all ages. Highlights include a jogging and walking track, a dedicated yoga zone, and an outdoor gym equipped with exercise machines, catering to fitness enthusiasts. For families and children, the park offers a colorful play area with swings and slides, alongside well-maintained benches for seating. The park also includes a covered community gathering zone, an amphitheater for local events, washrooms, and scenic landscaping to create a peaceful ambiance in the heart of the city.

“Creating spaces like these is essential in today’s urban landscape, where such retreats are limited,” added Reddy. “We are thrilled to provide this facility to the residents of Kukatpally and Balajinagar as a way to foster community ties and encourage an active lifestyle.”

Freedom Park reflects the growing trend of corporations investing in community welfare and urban greening projects through CSR activities. Residents expressed appreciation for the park’s launch, describing it as a “much-needed addition” to the area and welcoming the recreational and fitness facilities.

As Hyderabad’s neighborhoods continue to grow, initiatives like Freedom Park serve as essential resources, providing city dwellers with a space to connect with nature and with each other. The development of this green space marks a positive step towards sustainability and community well-being in Kukatpally and beyond.
