Under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Telangana has already initiated four revolutions (2nd Green Revolution, Blue Revolution, Pink Revolution, White Revolution). He said that the state has set an ambitious goal of cultivating oil palm on 20 lakh acres, launching a Yellow Revolution.
Gemini Edibles’ investment will play an important role in increasing Telangana’s edible oil output and will also benefit local oilseed farmers, the Minister said after meeting with Pradeep Chowdhry, Managing Director of Gemini Edibles and Fats, on Wednesday.
This will be the first of its kind plant in the landlocked state, as its three other plants are port-based because it imports crude oil for
Chowdhry emphasized that the proposed unit was the start of Telangana’s yellow revolution, which will see many more of these units built in the near future.
“Telangana planned palm cultivation in a big way. Plantations are underway and they will come to fruition in about seven years. We will have enough opportunity to process edible oils in Telangana itself,” Chowdhry previously stated.
The manufacturing facility will be ready in about two years and will be able to handle sunflower, cotton, palm, and rice bran.
