Get ready for Monsoon, CS tells officials

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary SK Joshi today directed the officials concerned to get ready with preparations for future monsoon, seasonal diseases and prevailing hot winds and scorching heat in the State.

The Chief Secretary held a review meeting at Secretariat and instructed the officials to ensure that they focus on seasonal diseases in the wake of monsoon arrival on June 10 or 11. According to Met department, the monsoon is set to enter Telangana on June 10 or 11 as it has arrived in Andaman and Nicobar islands, he said. He also asked district officials to use control rooms on heat wave conditions and give suggestions to the farming community. He also instructed the officials to be ready to shift people to safer places if the monsoon lashes out the state at river side areas and towns. Inform people in all districts on hot winds and rains and also farmers to sow crops with all inputs and guidance Joshi said.

Health secretary Shanthi Kumari has informed that they are ready with adequate stocks of medicines and will press in teams, if necessary. Revenue special secretary Rajeshwar Tiwari said rainfall data being given to the Collectors to review on rainy season to ensure safety to people. He said they are coordinating with Railways, Air Force, Army and other wings to check the problems in rainy season.

GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore said 195 teams and disaster response teams are ready to plunge into action in the monsoon season. A few teams are focusing on old and dilapidated buildings which may collapse during rainy season in June, he added.  (NSS)
