GHMC Advances Traffic Flow Enhancements with 107 Junction Improvement Projects

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is making significant strides in enhancing traffic flow across its jurisdiction with ongoing improvement works at 107 junctions. Currently, 31 projects have been successfully completed, while 54 others are advancing through various stages of execution.

Addressing concerns raised by Seethaphalmandi Corporator Samala Hema about junction improvements, GHMC officials assured that approvals for land acquisition and feasibility studies are actively progressing under the Town Planning wing.

In Rahmath Nagar, Corporator CN Reddy received updates indicating substantial progress in acquiring 61 properties affected by junction improvements at Rahmath Nagar, PJR Statue Junction. Notably, immediate attention is being given to resolve issues affecting 11 individual properties in high-traffic areas of the junction.

GHMC officials also addressed the challenges in sanitation services raised by Champapet Corporator Vanga Madhusudhan. They acknowledged a shortage of sanitation workers due to retirements, extended absences, and unfortunate deaths. The GHMC has submitted proposals to the government to fill permanent vacancies for sweepers, ensuring continuity in essential services.

Despite hurdles posed by recruitment regulations, particularly the ban on permanent vacancies under the Andhra Pradesh Act of 1994, the GHMC remains committed to fulfilling staffing needs through compassionate grounds. Proposals are underway to address approximately 1,050 positions left vacant by retiring class IV employees.

These initiatives underscore GHMC’s dedication to improving infrastructure and service delivery, ensuring a more efficient and sustainable urban environment for Hyderabad’s residents.
