The Hyderabad Metro Water supply and sewerage board have announced that on June 14, 2021, out of a total of 9,73,977 water connections in the city, 4,06,508 (41 percent) have linked their Aadhaar number and getting the benefit of 20k free water supply scheme announced by the Chief Minister KCR.
Many water consumers are not able to get the benefit, as the water board is insisting on house property mutation, and the GHMC is taking months together to complete the mutation work. Many say the GHMC has become a stumbling block in getting the benefit.

The mutation process itself involves a lengthy procedure as it requires an encumbrance certificate, market value certificate, notarization, registration documents, Demand draft in favor of GHMC, etc. People complained that even two months after submitting the required papers, the GHMC officials are not processing them and delaying the mutation. People who are making rounds are told that the Deputy Commissioner, who has to sign the papers, is busy with corona vaccination work. Disappointed applicants wonder whether the official was attending to vaccination-related matters only for months together without taking care of other works.
One applicant said it is high time the Municipal Administration Minister KTR takes up the issue and directs the officials on clearing pending mutation files so that people could avail the benefit of the scheme announced by the Chief Minister.
