GHMC Launches Special Monsoon Sanitation Drive to Curb Seasonal Diseases

To prevent the spread of seasonal and infectious diseases during the ongoing monsoon, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has launched a Special Monsoon Sanitation Drive, announced GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan on Monday.

As part of the initiative, Commissioner Karnan visited areas around Fever Hospital to inspect ongoing sanitation efforts and ensure that all preventive measures are being implemented effectively.

“Monsoon brings with it the risk of disease outbreaks, and GHMC has rolled out this special drive to ensure cleanliness and public safety,” Karnan told the media. He urged residents and political representatives to cooperate in making the program a success.

He also issued specific instructions to the Additional Commissioner, emphasizing the need to deploy sanitation workers across different localities, rather than concentrating them at a single site. This, he said, would improve both efficiency and local response during the drive.

The initiative is part of GHMC’s broader plan to tackle waterlogging, garbage accumulation, and vector-borne disease risks throughout the rainy season.
