Girl Ignored His Calls—So He Came from Varanasi and Attacked Her in Mumbai

A 19-year-old man from Varanasi, identified as Rahul Singh, has been arrested for attacking a 17-year-old girl in Mumbai’s Kandivali (West) area after she allegedly ignored his repeated calls, police officials confirmed on Saturday.

The incident took place on May 24 at Gosalia Road in Sanjay Nagar, when the victim was walking with a friend. According to reports by news agency PTI, Singh abused the girl, picked up a brick from the roadside, and struck her on the head in a fit of rage. He then proceeded to smash her mobile phone, the official said.

The teenager sustained serious injuries and was immediately rushed to the civic-run Shatabdi Hospital for treatment. Medical authorities are monitoring her condition.

Investigations revealed that Singh, a resident of Varanasi, had traveled to Mumbai specifically because the girl had been avoiding his phone calls. Police said the two were acquainted with each other, though the exact nature of their relationship is still under inquiry.

Authorities have booked the accused under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. A detailed investigation into the matter is currently underway.

The case has raised serious concerns about stalking and gender-based violence, with officials urging the public to report any signs of harassment promptly.
