With a sheer determination filled with altruistic zeal, four MBA girl students from an engineering college at Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh are on their way to invent an AI based jewelry-like device that, they claim, will help the blind people read any text or books without much difficulty.
Four MBA second year students from Maharana Pratab Engineering College Shubhangi Tripathi, Aqdas Noor, Sneha Tiwari and Sneha Singh sat together to assemble their ideas on the paper only to shape a perfect charming device later.
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) enabled device will help the blind people read the script or books without using brelley text which they use earlier to understand the script.
The AI enabled device will appear like a ring that enables the blind people to wear it in the ring finger like a jewelry before starting the reading. The ring-like device will have an AI based sensor and a camera that will read the text first and then send the sonic waves to earphones fixed in the ear of a blind person through bluetooth.
They name the dive ‘Drushti’ that denotes eyesight. Apart from reading, the device will help the blind people walk on the streets.
All the four students begin programming the device. They hope the device will be ready by next year. Actually, this team of four students introduced their project in a startup event at HBTU a few days ago.
According to Aqdas Noor, the ring-like device, which has a censor, GPS and a camera, will also alert the hospital in emergency situations. “The beholder of a ring will be able to alert the hospital, police and the relatives in an emergency situation,” Explain Aqdas.
“There is no device available for the blind persons to read the scripts and books. The programming work is on to invent a prototype. Very soon will seek a patent of this technology,” explain Avinash Pandav, the Assistant Professor and a Project Mentor Maharana Pratap Engineering College (MPGI).
