Tamilisai Soundararajan, Governor of Telangana, visited flood-affected districts in the combined Warangal district and encouraged the state administration to find long-term flood control solutions. She encouraged the government to map all impacted areas proactively, identify the reasons of stagnation and flood intensity, and implement preventive measures.
While recognizing the work of local officials in rescue missions, she underlined the importance of finding and resolving the underlying issues that caused the floods. One case in point was the collapse of a bridge at Jawahar colony, Hanamkonda, where locals had long sought repair.
The Governor expressed compassion for the people who had been severely impacted by heavy rains and flooding, saying it was heartbreaking to watch their anguish. She emphasized the significance of urgent aid activities such as supplying groceries, hygiene kits, children’s food, and medicines.
As a doctor, she recommended the state government to take preventative steps in flood-affected areas, such as guaranteeing enough access to filtered drinking water. The situation after a flood should also be constantly watched because it can be more dangerous, and efforts should be taken to safeguard individuals from any health hazards.
