Govt Is Responsible for Poor Drainage System in State Capital: TPCC Chief Revanth

TPCC president and MP A. Revanth Reddy today alleged that the State government was responsible for the poor drainage system in the state capital.

He demanded the state government to pay compensation to the sanitation workers, who died while discharging their duties in Sahebnagar drainage from the Hayathnagar division.

He made these remarks after visiting the family members of the victims’ Shiva and Antaiah.

Speaking on the occasion, he warned the state government had he would lodge a complaint on the issue with all national-level regulatory and legal agencies if it had not paid the compensation by Monday next week.

Revanth spoke to LB Nagar Zonal Commissioner Upender Reddy from the residence of the victims. He expressed his anger over the commissioner on the issue.

He said that it was unfortunate that the chief secretary of the state and GHMC Commissioner had not held any review on such a serious issue so far.

He asked the Zonal Commissioner as to how they allowed the workers to get into the manhole against the rules.

He asked the Commissioner to book criminal cases against officials and contractors concerned.

He Handed over ₹1 lakh compensation to each of the two family members on the occasion.
