Govt releases ₹158 crore to Amaravati farmers

Amaravati: The state government has released ₹158 crores to the Amaravati farmers of the capital city. The amount was released towards the payment of the land cess and pension to the Amaravati farmers who have given their lands for the construction of the state capital.

State municipal administration and urban development minister Botcha Satyanarayana revealed this in a statement. He said that the amount would be credited into the accounts of the farmers.

He expressed his anger over the protest programs being held by opposition party leaders for the delay in the payment of the money. He said that although the amount was credited into the bank accounts of the farmers on Wednesday, it was delayed due to some technical problems.

He alleged that the opposition political parties were trying to instigate the people of the state despite knowing the problem for the delayed payment. The minister made it clear that the farmers who have sold away their land rights would not get the land cess amount.

He said that the state government wanted to increase the pension of the farmers of the state Capital to ₹5,000 per month but the proposal was stalled as the opposition parties approached the high court on the issue.
