Govt to reduce fuel taxes in Telangana: Congress

Dr. Sravan Dasoju spokesperson of (TPCC) Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee blamed TRS Government for Telangana having the highest petrol prices among 23 other states in the country.
Sravan alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao was taking advantage of Prime Minister Narender Modi’s anti-people and pro-oil firms policy by covertly imposing heavy taxes on petrol and diesel which today stands at 35.2 per cent on petrol and 27 per cent on diesel. He said that Telangana was collecting highest taxes on petrol and diesel compared to states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Delhi, Goa, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Sikkim, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. He said these 22 states have less taxes compared to Telangana.
Giving details, the Spokesperson informed that the tax on petrol in Goa was 16.61 per cent and for Diesel it is 18.82 per cent. Similarly, it is 18.89 per cent on petrol and 12.97 per cent on Diesel in Tripura while in the national capital, Delhi, it is 27 per cent on Petrol and 17.28 per cent on Diesel.
However, in Telangana, the tax rate is 35.02 per cent on Petrol and 27 per cent on Diesel, he said these rates could not be justified in any manner. He said diesel prices in Diesel prices are falling in several States, but not in Telangana due to wrong policies of TRS Government.
