With Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s latest announcement of a 6-day lockdown in Delhi starting tonight at 10 am till next Monday 5 am, the government has issued a list of things allowed and shut during this period to curb the growing spread of the deadly virus.
The CM mentioned the importance of the lockdown to prevent the situation from getting worse. As such, he said, “The government will take full care of you. We took this tough decision taking the situation into consideration.”

Below are the restrictions imposed for the lockdown in the city:
- Though religious places will remain open, worshippers won’t be permitted to visit.
- Private offices will resume Work From Home for all employees
- Government offices and firms will be shut, excluding corporations directly related in providing essential and emergency services. (healthcare, other emergency services)
- Not more than 50 people will be allowed to attend weddings while in funerals, only 20 will be permitted
- All movie theatres, swimming pools, gyms, spas, malls, shopping complexes, restaurants and salons will be closed.
- No religious, social, entertainment, sports or political congregation will be allowed.
- National sporting events are permitted to take place with no audience at stadiums.
Coming to the list of people to whom restrictions pertaining to their movement aren’t applicable:
- All doctors, healthcare workers, essential workers, judges, officials, government officers, diplomats and journalists are permitted to move given they furnish valid ID proofs.
- Students coming out of their homes to travel to examination centres will be allowed on the production of valid ID cards.
- Any movement required by people going to taking covid-19 test or vaccine will be allowed if they give valid ID cards.
- As airports, railway and bus stations are still open, people traveling to these places will be allowed on the provision of valid tickets to the cops.
- Patients and pregnant women travelling with an attendant to hospitals will be permitted if they show valid ID cards, doctor’s prescription or medical documents proving their health status.
As for commercial businesses and other essential services, here are all the things allowed during the curfew period:
- Stores selling groceries, food, vegetables, fruits, dairy and milk, meat and fish, animal fodder, and medicines are allowed to stay open.
- Pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, opticians, newspaper distribution channels are permitted to function.
- ATMs, insurance offices, and banks will be open.
- While dining won’t be allowed, takeaway and home delivery of food from restaurants will be permitted.
- All essential goods delivery- pharmaceuticals, food, medical equipment- will be allowed via e-commerce mediums.
- Internet, IT-enabled, cable, telecommunications services will function.
- Petrol and diesel stations, CNG, LPG, gas and petrol retail and storage units will be open.
- Power generation, transmission and distribution outlets and services, water supply chains, warehouse services and cold storage will operate normally.
- Private security services are allowed to work.

On the transportation front:
- With 50% occupation, public transport mediums like buses and metros will be allowed to work.
- Not more than 2 passengers in all autos and cabs.
- No standing passenger permitted in any transport service.
- No restriction on inter-state and intra-state transportation or movement of essential commodities. These will also not require a separate e-pass or permission from authorities.
