Hyderabad: The High Court today granted stay on setting up of Jubilee Hills Peddamma Gudi Trust. Congress former MLA P Vishnuvardhan Reddy filed a petition in the High Court challenging the Endowment Department’s notification to set up Peddamma Gudi Trust.
In his petition, Vishnuvardhan Reddy questioned as to how a Trust could be floated when his family was acting as Dharma Karthas of the temple. The Court imposed a stay after hearing the case. Senior Congress leader and former minister late P Janardhan Reddy had constructed the Peddamma Gudi in Jubilee Hills in 1993. The PJR family feels Goddess Peddamma was their Ilavelpu and PJR’s family take blessings of Peddamma before they start any program.
After PJR’s demise, his son Vishnuvardhan Reddy was conducting programs in Peddamma Gudi like his father. The PJR family was also taking care of the temple by ensuring that the devotees do not face any problem. On the other hand, the Endowments Department issued a notification for setting up of a Trust Board for the Peddamma Temple. (NSS)
