Hyderabad and several parts of Telangana witnessed thunderstorms and a significant drop in temperatures on Thursday afternoon. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad had already forecast rains, thunderstorms, and gusty winds for the rest of the week, impacting Hyderabad and surrounding districts.
Areas such as Banjara Hills, Punjagutta, Jubilee Hills, Masab Tank, Begumpet, Paradise, Trimulgherry, Karkhana, Alwal, Sainikpuri, ECIL Cross Roads, Kapra, Tarnaka, and Habsiguda reported summer thundershowers on Thursday. Other affected regions included Narayanguda, Himayathnagar, and Khairatabad.
The IMD-Hyderabad has warned that all districts of Telangana will receive rains and thunderstorms from today until Sunday. The day and night temperatures that were above normal are now expected to drop by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next four days.

According to the latest IMD forecast, maximum temperatures are likely to decline gradually, bringing relief from the heatwave that had gripped the state in recent weeks.
For Thursday, the IMD issued a yellow (moderate) alert predicting thunderstorms with gusty winds of 40 to 50 kmph in multiple districts, including:
- Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Medak, Kamareddy, Jagtial, Rajanna Sirsilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal.
On Friday, an orange (high) alert was issued, forecasting thunderstorms with lightning, hailstorms, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) in the districts of:
- Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Medak, and Kamareddy.
Additionally, an orange alert was issued for the following districts:
- Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Jagtial, Rajanna Sirsilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal.
The IMD-Hyderabad has extended yellow and orange alerts for Saturday and Sunday, indicating continued rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across Telangana. Citizens are advised to stay indoors during thunderstorms and follow weather updates to avoid disruptions.
