Honest man returns wallet containing Rs.23,700 in Hyderabad

A private travels employee showed his honesty by returning a wallet containing Rs.23,700 cash that had been lost by a man near Sultan Bazaar here on Friday.

Mohd Yousuf, an Azam Travels employee, was on his way to work in the morning when he discovered a wallet on the road near Rang Mahal junction.

Yousuf waited for a while to see if someone returned to take it. However, no one came back to claim it. When he investigated the wallet, he discovered cash and the identity of the individual who had lost it.

He approached Sultan Bazaar Traffic Inspector M.Suman Kumar right away and handed over the lost wallet.

Police officers found and traced the wallet’s owner, Jawahar Raju, and handed it over to him in the presence of senior police officers.

Honest auto-drivers receive plaudits for returning lost gold, cash to their owners

In February, two auto-rickshaw drivers won accolades for their honesty in the city, with one returning a bag containing 10 tolas of gold jewellery and another returning a wallet containing Rs 10,000 in cash and other documents.

Syed Zaker, 34, a Muradnagar resident, discovered a handbag at noon on Monday while driving around looking for passengers. The bag was discovered on the road near PVNR Pillar No. 55.

“I opened the bag in the hopes of finding the owner’s phone number and saw gold jewellery inside.  I then proceeded to the Langer Houz police station and handed over the bag,” Zaker explained.

According to police, the bag’s owner, Mirza Sultan Baig, was travelling with his wife on a motorcycle when he left the bag on the petrol tank and lost it, prompting them to contact the police.

In the second incident, another auto-driver, Haneef Khan, demonstrated his honesty by returning a wallet containing Rs 10,000 and identity documents that had been forgotten by a passenger in Kukatpally.

Tirumala Rao, an Indian Army jawan, had taken the money from a bank and boarded Khan’s auto to return home to Kukatpally. “While getting out, he forgot his wallet in the auto, and by the time he realised it, the auto had already left,” Kukatpally police said.
