Hurdles on Day 1 of Congress’s Praja Palana in Hyderabad

The Congress government’s Praja Palana initiative, aimed to fulfill its six public guarantees, met with hurdles on the first day, particularly in Hyderabad, when inconsistencies and complaints about form distribution appeared.

The initiative, which was scheduled to run from Thursday to January 6, was met with criticism as multiple people reported not obtaining forms in various locations. As a result of this situation, local brokers took advantage of the need by selling the forms for Rs 30 each. Tensions rose in places like Jangammet, where residents were assured by GHMC officials that forms would be distributed promptly.

In other cases, Urdu language forms were not accessible, and reports indicated that form distribution was handled by private individuals, including local party workers. Irregularities were reported in Chandrayangutta, Jangammet, Falaknuma, Bahadurpura, Tappachabutra, Chaderghat, GolGolconda, and other places.

Concerns were also raised over the sale of photostat copies of the forms for Rs 20 at MeeSeva facilities. The inconsistencies in form distribution raised concerns about the program’s effectiveness.

As the Praja Palana initiative seeks to engage with the public and fulfill the promises made by the Congress government, these early hurdles underscore the significance of addressing operational concerns in order to ensure the program’s success and maintain openness in the distribution process.
