In a shocking incident in Tamil Nadu’s Avadi district, a woman councillor from the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) was brutally murdered by her husband on Thursday. The attack, which occurred in broad daylight, was allegedly driven by suspicions of an extramarital affair.
The victim, identified as Gomathi, was reportedly seen talking to another man near Jayaram Nagar in the Thiruninravur locality when her husband, Stephen Raj, confronted her. Acting on a tip-off, he arrived at the scene and an argument broke out between the couple.
The argument quickly escalated into violence when Stephen Raj allegedly pulled out a knife and repeatedly stabbed Gomathi. She succumbed to her injuries on the spot.

After committing the murder, Stephen Raj walked into the Thiruninravur police station and surrendered himself. He admitted to the crime and has since been taken into custody.
Police have launched a detailed investigation into the case to ascertain all aspects surrounding the incident, including the alleged tip-off and any previous domestic disputes.
