In a jaw-dropping turn of events, the Hyderabad Excise Department has uncovered an illegal operation where an ice cream parlor in the posh Jubilee Hills area was secretly serving whiskey-infused ice cream. The raid, conducted at Ariko Cafe Ice Cream Parlour, has sent shockwaves across the city as authorities seized 11.5 kg of the alcoholic dessert—a concoction laced with whiskey and sold at premium prices.
The mastermind behind this scheme, Sharath Chandra Reddy, was allegedly mixing 60 ml of whiskey into each kilogram of ice cream, crafting a boozy treat that catered to adult customers. The illegal operation came to light when authorities discovered that Reddy and his employees, Dayakar Reddy and Shobhan, had been promoting this adult-only dessert on social media platforms like Facebook, enticing customers with their whiskey-laden offerings.
Excise Superintendent Pradeep Rao, who led the operation, condemned the illegal venture, stating, “Selling alcohol-based products, especially in an ice cream format that can easily attract children, is a grave violation. We are committed to taking strict action.”

The raid uncovered 23 pieces of the alcohol-laced ice cream, but the audacity of the operation has left many stunned. The fact that a seemingly innocent ice cream parlor was serving whiskey under the radar has sparked outrage among locals, with concerns about how such an operation could exist in a family-friendly environment.
A case has been registered against the individuals involved, and an investigation is ongoing. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the lengths some businesses will go to profit from illegal and dangerous ventures.
