Commuters facing first-mile and last-mile connectivity issues in the metro can now bring folding bicycles inside of the metro, L&T Hyderabad Metro Rail announced on Monday.
In a tweet reply, the L&T Hyderabad Metro Rail said foldable bikes that could be scanned by the X-ray machines were allowed during off-peak hours on the Hyderabad Metro. “Hello, Foldable bicycles which can go through our X-Ray machines during non-peak hours is allowed in Hyderabad Metro,” the tweet read.

A commuter in the Kochi metro carrying a bicycle inside the metro was posted as a tweet by Hyderabad’s Bicycle Mayor. He asked what stops Hyderabad Metro from implementing it as well. Additionally, he suggested that it be considered in off-peak hours.
The men occupy women’s seats in the Metro
Metro trains are equipped with special compartments for women, but some unruly men are alleged to board and occupy the women’s compartments. Pregnant women and disabled passengers are even allegedly forced to sit in unoccupied seats. Despite the fact that some metro stations have security guards who keep men out of women’s compartments, some women say they often appear from nowhere and manage to enter once the train starts.
Earlier this week, a woman asked a man to vacate her seat. He refused to comply even after repeated requests. Kavya, a regular passenger, said that she had to travel standing all the way from Madhapur to Uppal.
