Hyderabad Metro Phase II B DPRs Finalised for Medchal, Shameerpet and Future City Corridors

In a significant development for the city’s public transport infrastructure, Hyderabad Metro Rail on Thursday announced the completion of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the proposed Phase II B corridors, covering JBS–Medchal–Shameerpet and Airport–Future City routes. These metro expansions will span a total of 86.1 kilometers and are projected to cost ₹19,579 crore.

The announcement comes amid recent reports suggesting that the DPRs for the Medchal, Shameerpet, and Future City Metro corridors were still incomplete. NVS Reddy, Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail, dismissed these claims as false and misleading.

“The DPRs for these proposed corridors for the next phase were prepared and approved by the Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited Board on May 8. They are currently under review by the State government,” Reddy clarified.

    • Length: 24.5 km (fully elevated)
    • Stations: 18
    • Will enhance connectivity in the northern suburbs of Hyderabad.
  • JBS–Shameerpet Corridor:
    • Length: 22 km (20.35 km elevated + 1.65 km underground near Hakimpet Air Force Station)

    • A crucial route connecting educational and defense zones in North Hyderabad.
