Hyderabad Metro Rail introduces ‘Metro Bazar’

L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited is introducing an innovative concept for its passenger engagement initiative with the launch of ‘Metro Bazar’ on Wednesday.

This will now allow commuters that are taking Hyderabad metro trains to shop on the way to their homes.

The first edition of the bazaar was held at the Ameerpet metro station and featured products from women entrepreneurs. The flea market had 14 stalls selling items ranging from hand-made body care items to tie-dyed sarees.

Swathi Lakra, DGP, Women Safety Wing, who launched the event said such initiatives nurture and provide avenues for women who wish to achieve something. She added, “I hope the passengers will enjoy the products on offer, which I have seen and found to be reasonably priced.”

Starting today, the bazar will be open from 11 am to 9 pm at Ameerpet metro station for 15 days, then Punjagutta, MGBS, and other metro stations for 15 days each. For this engagement, Hyderabad Metro Rail has provided the space free of charge to WomENvision.

The founder and director of WomENvision, Praveena Thota Naidu, said, “We are grateful to HMRL and L&TMRHL for the opportunity with the first edition of Metro Bazar and for patronizing the unsung women entrepreneurs of WomENvision who dream to make it big.”

The MD & CEO of L&TMRHL, KVB Reddy, said, “We are delighted to launch Metro Bazar, which is consistent with our efforts to improve the passenger experience. We are glad that WomENvision is partnering with us for the first edition of Metro Bazar, which will empower women to be financially independent.”
