Hyderabad Metro Rail Sets Global Safety Benchmark: HMRL MD NVS Reddy

The Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) system has upheld high safety standards, ensuring that no major accidents or untoward incidents have occurred since its inception, said HMRL Managing Director NVS Reddy. Speaking at the 54th National Safety Week celebrations at the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) in Balanagar, Reddy emphasized the role of technological advancements, scientific engineering practices, and strategic planning in making Hyderabad Metro one of the safest transit systems globally.

He stated that the Hyderabad Metro Rail project is not just an engineering marvel but a social infrastructure initiative aimed at improving public transport and urban mobility. As the world’s largest metro rail project under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, HMR overcame numerous challenges to become a state-of-the-art urban transit solution for Hyderabad.

Reddy highlighted that safety is not merely about adhering to regulations but also about responsibility and proactive risk assessment. He explained that rigorous hazard analysis and risk mitigation strategies were implemented at every stage of the project to ensure accident-free operations.
