Hyderabad: Police arrest man for social media post threatening PM Modi, Amit Shah

Police said a man allegedly threatened to behead Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on social media.

According to the post, RSS and BJP leaders should apologize to Nupur Sharma, the suspended spokesperson of the BJP for her controversial comments on the Prophet Mohammad. If not, their heads would be separated, the man stated.

In its own initiative, the Moghalpura police took action against the man for posting the inflammatory post, arresting him on Wednesday.

According to a senior police official, he was brought before a local court that ordered the police to issue him a notice under the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).

In cases where the arrest is not immediately necessary, section 41A of the CrPC mandates that the police must issue a notice directing the defendant (to appear before a police officer) who has been named in the complaint. Consequently, the police served the man with the notice, who was later released.
