Hyderabad Police Bust Illegal Ginger-Garlic Paste Unit, Seize 870 Kgs of Toxic Product

In a major crackdown on food adulteration, the Hyderabad Police on Tuesday raided an illegal ginger and garlic paste manufacturing unit in Patel Nagar, Bandlaguda, and arrested Mohammed Faisal (44) for producing and selling toxic, chemically-laced food products.

The raid led to the seizure of 870 kilograms of adulterated ginger garlic paste, along with 4 kgs of titanium dioxide, 16 kgs of mono citrate, and 4 kgs of turmeric powder. According to Task Force Additional Commissioner of Police, Ande Srinivasa Rao, Faisal was operating under the brand name FK Food Product and supplying the harmful paste to various provision stores and individual customers.

Police investigations revealed that Faisal was using banned and hazardous chemicals including titanium dioxide and coloring agents in the paste to enhance its appearance and shelf life—substances not approved by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). These ingredients pose serious health risks and are a clear violation of food safety regulations.

“This is a grave threat to public health. The accused was knowingly endangering lives by distributing contaminated food products purely for personal profit,” said Rao. Authorities have vowed to intensify crackdowns on food adulteration in the city and urged the public to be vigilant about the sources of their daily consumables.
