Hyderabad Police Make Progress in Afzalgunj Firing Case; Suspects Linked to Nationwide Crimes

The Hyderabad city police have made significant progress in the investigation into the Afzalgunj firing incident, with leads pointing to a broader criminal network. The case, which shocked the city, saw assailants firing at a local businessman and attempting a heist. Investigators, in collaboration with the Bidar police, have uncovered crucial details linking the suspects to multiple crimes across the country.

According to police reports, the assailants, identified as Amit and Manish, traveled from Trimulgherry to Shamirpet in a passenger auto-rickshaw before fleeing to Gajwel in a sharing auto-rickshaw. From Gajwel, they continued their escape by lorry to Adilabad, and eventually made their way to Bihar via Madhya Pradesh. Investigations also revealed that the duo had been involved in other criminal activities, with a particularly violent robbery in Bidar, Karnataka, earlier this week.

The Bidar heist occurred on Thursday morning, where the suspects shot and killed two people, including a security guard, and made off with Rs. 93 lakh. They fled the scene on a motorcycle but abandoned it and took a bus to Hyderabad. Upon reaching the city, the suspects disembarked at MGBS and bought tickets for Raipur at Roshan Travels in Afzalgunj.

The plot thickened when the bus manager, Jahangir, noticed suspiciously large luggage bags. Upon questioning the suspects, one of them pulled out a pistol and shot at him. The firing incident at Afzalgunj occurred shortly thereafter.

Hyderabad police, with assistance from special teams, have already dispatched units to Bihar and Jharkhand in search of the suspects. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities intensifying efforts to apprehend the duo. Police have confirmed that the suspects have been linked to multiple crimes across India, and are believed to be part of a larger criminal gang.

As the investigation unfolds, the police remain committed to bringing the suspects to justice and have appealed to the public for any information related to the duo’s whereabouts.

The joint efforts of the Hyderabad and Bidar police have underscored the seriousness of the case, with authorities working together to track down and arrest the suspects before they can commit further crimes.
