Students from Hyderabad have appealed for help and rescue as the situation in war-torn Ukraine worsens.
Mohammed Samiuddin and Mohiuddin Salman, have appealed to the Indian government for assistance and rescue from the war-torn country in a video message.
While the Indian government denies that it is rescuing students from Ukraine, Salman and Sami claim to be trapped in the Kyiv Medical University dormitories with over 300 other Indian students.
We are Uzhhorod National Medical University students who arrived in Kivy on February 24th because that was the day we were supposed to fly out. We are currently stranded at the KMU hostel due to intense bombing (in the capital of the country). The media reports that students stranded in Kivy are being evacuated, but the Indian Embassy in Ukraine has yet to communicate anything, Salman stated.

After travelling 14 hours from Uzhgorod, Salman and his friend arrived in the capital city a day before their flight to catch their flight the next day. They were, however, told to leave the airport within the next few hours.
When a bomb went off 1.6 kilometres distant, students panicked and scattered, losing track of their pals. Others rushed to the Indian embassy, while Salman and a group of five pals sought safety at the Kyiv Medical University hostel, which housed 150 other resident students.
When Indian news agencies contacted Salman today, he said the embassy had called the students and instructed them to stay put as the war raged on.
Today was the first day we were able to call the embassy. They’ve told us to stay put since the situation outside is tense. They have abandoned us, informing us that we must find our way to the borders, which are 800 kilometres away, once transit is restored, Salman irritated and helpless express his displeasure.
Salman’s family lives in Bahadurpura, Hyderabad, and has requested help from state Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who has vowed to help with the return of the students who have been trapped in Ukraine.
Salman requested assistance from the Indian government in a video appeal that revealed glimpses of the KMU’s heavily filled basement.
