A government school teacher from Yusufguda has expressed concern over the growing influence of mass media on students, particularly citing the Pushpa films directed by Sukumar and starring Allu Arjun. In a video posted by News channel, the teacher shared her distress with the Education Commission, claiming that students are adopting undesirable behavior influenced by such films.
The teacher stated that she feels like she has “failed as an administrator” when she sees students behaving recklessly in schools. “They sport unbearable hairstyles and talk vulgarly. We focus only on education and ignore this. This is the situation not only in government schools but in private schools too. As an administrator, I feel like I’m failing,” she lamented.
She further noted that she does not feel comfortable punishing students, fearing the pressure it could place on them. “They don’t seem to care even when we call parents to discuss these issues. You can’t even punish them because it might drive them to suicide. I have to blame the mass media for all this. Half the students in my school have become worse due to Pushpa. The film was certified with no concern for this,” she added.

Her comments have sparked debate on social media, with mixed reactions from netizens. Some users on X (formerly Twitter) agreed with her concerns. One user commented, “What she said is true. Some will get influenced by watching these types of movies.” Another user stated, “Manchi cheyakapoyina perledhu kani chedu cheyadhu” (It’s okay if you don’t do good, but don’t make it worse).
However, others responded with sarcasm, questioning her perspective. One user wrote, “SIR movie chusi poor students ki free ga chaduvu cheppachu ga teacher” (Then teach students for free after watching SIR). Another wondered whether students would aim for IAS or take up farming after watching Game Changer and Maharshi.
Sukumar’s Pushpa: The Rise (2021) and Pushpa 2: The Rule (2024) feature Allu Arjun as Pushpa Raj, a daily wage worker who rises to power as a red sanders smuggler. The films, also starring Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil, have been box-office hits. Pushpa 2: The Rule even became the highest-grossing Indian film of 2024.
While the Pushpa films have achieved immense success and cultural impact, the teacher’s concerns highlight a broader debate on the responsibility of mass media in shaping young minds. The discussion continues as educationists and film enthusiasts offer differing perspectives on the role of cinema in influencing students.
