Hyderabad to continue experiencing warm weather conditions

The city’s warm weather conditions continued on Monday, with the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Yousufguda weather station recording a maximum temperature of 34.6 degrees Celsius. The city’s average temperature has risen to 32 degrees Celsius.

Such hot and humid weather conditions are expected to continue for the next five days, according to the India Meteorological Department – Hyderabad (IMD-H).

The summer heat had begun to set in as early as February, with the maximum temperature reaching 35.6 degrees Celsius on February 13. The highest maximum temperature recorded for February last year was 35.0 degrees Celsius.

On February 23, 2016, the all-time highest maximum temperature in February recorded in the city was 38.7 degrees Celsius

The minimum temperature in the city is also expected to gradually rise over the week.

Hotter summer expected in Hyderabad this year

The El Nino climate pattern, which is associated with extreme heat waves and weak monsoons, is expected to emerge around this summer season, according to the most recent global meteorological models.

“From February 11, day temperatures will gradually begin rising in the city, thus marking the beginning of summer season. However, nights and early mornings will remain cool until February last week,” says Tarani Balaji, known as Telangana Weatherman on Twitter.

During the last nine years, the annual maximum temperatures were highest in 2016 and lowest in 2021.

According to a report by the Telangana State Development Planning Society, temperature trends have slightly decreased in the last three years due to the current La Nina conditions (TSDPS).

Weather and climate patterns are affected by El Nino. In India, it is associated with drought or weak monsoons. La Nina, on the other hand, is associated with intense monsoons and colder winters. It has a cooling effect.
