Hyderabad to hold an ‘Ozone Run’ on Sep 18

On Sunday, Joginapally Santosh Kumar, MP for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), launched a poster for the upcoming ‘Ozone Run’ in Hyderabad with Climate Action Ambassadors Bilvoa Vunnam and Teerdha Vunnam.

Taking place two days after the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer on September 18, the 10-kilometer run is open to all in Hyderabad.

The first-of-its-kind ‘Ozone Run’ will take place in Hyderabad to raise awareness about Mother Earth and the Ozone layer to safeguard against ultraviolet radiation from the Sun, officials announced.

The ‘Ozone Run’ poster was launched in Hyderabad by Meghna Musunuri, Founder of Save Water and Nature (SWAN), TRS MP Joginapally Santosh Kumar, and Climate Action Ambassadors Bilvoa and Teerdha Vunnam.

According to the MP, the success of the “Ozone Run” lies in the participation of a large number of people, a promotion of social awareness, and a sense of responsibility towards Mother Earth. This is also the ethos of the “Green India Challenge to Plant, Protect, and Promote.”

Gareth Wynn Owen, Deputy High Commissioner of the British High Commission in Hyderabad, encouraged like-minded people to promote, participate in, and play an important role in the huge success of the Ozone Run event.

Vice Chairman and managing director Sandeep Kumar Sulthania called out to youth and young adults to “Protect Environment – Protect Yourself”.

It is equally the responsibility of all like-minded individuals to come together for this mega event “Ozone Run”, as the ozone layer is the only protection available in the region of the stratosphere that protects us. Water points, First Aid, Ambulances, Breakfast, and Selfie points will be available during the Ozone run. First, second, and third runner-ups will receive prizes in different categories. Funds raised from this event will be used to create more lung spaces in Hyderabad, said Meghana Musunuri.
