The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) is considering outsourcing spot-billing and collection services for a year to improve operational efficiency.
The planned outsourcing project aims to streamline the procedures of meter reading, bill generation, and consumer payment collection.
Each month, selected agencies will handle invoicing for bigger diameter connections and commercial category Consumer Account Numbers (CANs) of defined sizes in close collaboration with management.
Each month, agencies must finish billing for various categories and pipe diameters by the 15th, followed by a focus on payment collection for all CANs from the 16th until the month’s end. The outsourced meter readers will be critical in finding and reporting pipe size irregularities, as well as notifying the HMWS&SB about meter repairs.
In addition to assisting in the identification and repair of unmetered meter status Consumer Account Numbers (CANs), the agencies will ensure rapid communication with specified meter mending agencies.
This strategic shift is projected to result in more efficient billing procedures, more accurate meter readings, and an overall improvement in the HMWS&SB’s operation.
