As per the latest reports, women of Hyderabad showed support for the students in Karnataka by organizing protests at NTR Garden on Sunday.
The Hijab controversy has sparked uproar in Karnataka. The hijab controversy started a month ago when female Muslim students in Udupi, Karnataka, were denied entry to a pre-university government college.
The administration stated that students who wore hijabs violated their institute’s dress code, while the students said that hijab is an essential part of their religion and that they have the right to wear it. The controversy over the hijab spread rapidly to other districts in northern Karnataka.
Several Muslim women in Hyderabad organised protests in support of Karnataka students on Sunday at NTR Garden, in the midst of the ongoing hijab controversy in Karnataka. To organize the protest, several women carried posters near NTR Gardens in Khairatabad. Housewives, activists, advocates, and children attended the rally to show their support for Karnataka students.

“This is not a protest. It’s a collaborative effort. This is a letter to the government and the courts, in which we express our concern, fundamental rights, suffering, and need. The uncertainty stems from a clash between constitutional rights and legislation enacted by the state. When there is a conflict between articles, the court must decide which law takes priority,” advocate Afsar Jahan stated.
Jahan added, “As a result, if one of our fundamental rights is limited or hampered, the court has the authority to decide which one will win. So, we’re pleading with the court to give us a chance to speak. We’re all waiting for the court to make a decision.”
On February 10, protests started across Hyderabad on Wednesday over the Karnataka hijab row, with women in several parts of the city taking to the streets to show solidarity with the neighbouring state’s college students.
