Bidar: A ghastly incident took place in Bidar district of Karnataka state. One Hyderabadi died and three others received serious injuries when the locals attacked them suspecting that they were child kidnapers. Condition of a person among the three injured was serious. The incident took place at Murki village in Ourad Taluq of Bidar district on Saturday. The police identified the deceased person as Mohammed Azam of Hyderabad. Thahla Ismail and Mohammed Salmas, both from Hyderabad, received serious injuries.
The Hyderabad youth went to Murki village following the invitation of Mohammed Bashir, who was doing job in Hyderabad, of Handikera village in Ourad Taluq. The youth halted at Balkoot Thanda for tiffin. One Ismail, who recently came from Qatar, distributed the chocolates to the local school children. This incident made the locals to suspect the Hyderabad youth as child kidnappers and started attacking them. The locals didn’t listen the youth’s version in a fit of anger. The locals placed the trees on the road when the youth tried to escape from the place at Murki village. Moreover, the locals pulled the youth from the car and beaten them indiscriminately with sticks and stones. Mohammed Azam died on the spot due to the beating. The police who reached the spot later shifted the remaining injured youth to Hyderabad city for better treatment. It is learnt that about 100 villagers participated in the incident and the police arrested 30 among them. (NSS)
