In a bid to streamline the resolution of public grievances, the Hyderabad Urban Development and Regional Authority Agency (HYDRA) has announced the introduction of a dedicated “Complaints Day” every Monday, beginning in January 2025. The initiative aims to address pressing civic issues and improve the city’s infrastructure and environmental conditions.
HYDRA’s “Complaints Day” will focus on tackling key issues such as encroachments on ponds, canals, parks, and other areas that affect the city’s environment and infrastructure. The sessions will be held every Monday at Buddha Bhavan, where senior HYDRA officials will be available to listen to citizens’ complaints and work towards resolving them effectively.
The agency made the announcement on social media on Wednesday, highlighting the importance of this initiative. “HYDRA will introduce a complaints day every Monday starting January 2025 to take up public issues,” the post read. The initiative is expected to be a significant step towards making Hyderabad a cleaner, greener, and more efficient city.

In a related development, the Telangana government has released Rs 50 crore to HYDRA, which will be used for various operational purposes. These funds will help maintain the HYDRA office, purchase new vehicles, and cover costs related to demolitions carried out in the city. This release comes as part of an overall allocation of Rs 200 crore in the state’s budget for HYDRA, marking the beginning of a more focused effort to tackle urban challenges within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.
HYDRA was established in July 2024 by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy with the aim of conserving government lakes and parks, restoring ponds, and managing disaster-related issues in the city. With the launch of the Complaints Day initiative, HYDRA is taking a more proactive approach to ensuring the efficient management and development of Hyderabad’s urban spaces. As the city continues to grow, initiatives like this one are expected to play a crucial role in maintaining its livability and sustainability for its residents.
