HYDRAA Demolishes Illegal Constructions in Yapral

HYDRAA officials conducted a demolition drive in Yapral, Medchal district, targeting illegal constructions near Nagireddy Kunta nala and buffer zones. The drive was initiated following complaints about encroachments in Survey Numbers 14 and 32.

Investigations revealed that a portion of government land had been encroached upon for the construction of the DNR Function Hall. Despite the builder’s claims that it was private land, HYDRAA confirmed the encroachment and demolished parts of the function hall and its compound wall.

Officials also demolished an illegal compound wall at the Dhobi Ghat in Survey Number 32, while refraining from action in Survey Number 25 due to a court stay order. The demolition was carried out under the GHMC Act 405, which prohibits construction in buffer zones near water bodies.

The Government Land Protection Committee in Yapral, which has been fighting encroachments for seven years, praised HYDRAA’s action, calling it a long-awaited victory. Despite facing intimidation from encroachers, the committee expressed satisfaction with the drive, marking a significant step in protecting public land.
