“I Was Afraid,” Says Vidya Balan on Turning Down ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’

In an exciting turn of events, acclaimed actor Vidya Balan has announced her return to the beloved Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise, reprising her iconic role of Manjulika in the upcoming film, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. At a recent event in Mumbai, where she launched the song *Ami Je Tomar 3.0*, Vidya candidly discussed her initial hesitations about revisiting this celebrated character and the journey that ultimately led her to embrace the third installment.

Producer Bhushan Kumar shared that Vidya had originally declined the opportunity to be part of *Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2*. “I had approached Vidya ji for *Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2*, but she had refused,” he revealed. However, during the trailer launch, Bhushan noted that Vidya was so impressed by the film that she agreed to post about it on her social media. Her enthusiasm for the project sparked a commitment to join the third film, solidifying her place in the franchise.

Vidya elaborated on her initial reluctance to take on the sequel, citing the immense pressure she felt following the success of the first film. “The only reason I didn’t do *Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2* was that I wanted to work on *Bhool Bhulaiyaa* again, but I was scared because *Bhool Bhulaiyaa 1* has given me so much. I thought, ‘What if I end up messing everything this time?’ I told Anees (Bazmee) bhai that I couldn’t take the risk,” she explained.

Another significant factor that influenced her decision was the inclusion of Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit in the cast. Vidya shared, “Of course, there was Kartik (Aaryan), and I loved *Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2*. The icing on the cake was Madhuri Dixit. I gathered the courage to do it, and I had a great time.”

As she spoke about the project, Vidya praised director Anees Bazmee for his ability to create entertaining films. “I will say this, he (Anees Bazmee) is the king of entertainment. To have had the opportunity to work with him on this was magical,” she remarked.
