IEI and TSCASI conducts seminar on “Additive Manufacturing Technologies”

Hyderabad: The Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI), Telangana State Centre and Aeronautical Society of India, Hyderabad jointly organized One day Seminar on “Additive Manufacturing Technologies” Inaugural function held today. Capt. S N REDDY, Secretary and CEO, TelanganaState Aviation Academy graced the function as Chief Guest. During the occasion the Chief Guest said about latest technologies that are used in metal structures with examples. Additive Manufacturing is a biggest thing in aerospace field. Additive Manufacturing brings solid objects and it allows Companies less wastage. It improves quality sales time and cost about 80%compared to traditional methods. Additive Manufacturing also provides an option for application for higher design of systems.

The Keynote Speaker, Prof B Ravi, IIT, Mumbai explained different models of Ganesha of enabling rapid innovation and customorised productions. The speaker said about evolution of manufacturing industry. He emphasized on sustainable manufacturing. He said about various additive manufacturing applications in the biomedical field with examples. Lastly he said that 3D printing is a big innovation and there is a need for indigenous R&D.

Dr S Satyanarayana, FIE, Chairman, IEI, TSC presided over the function. Dr Y Sreenivasa Rao, FIE, Hon. Secretary, Aeronautical Society of India, Hyderabad Branch briefed about the Seminar. Dr G Rameshwar Rao, FIE, Hon. Secretary, IEI, TSC welcomed the gathering and Dr G Chandra Mohan Reddy, FIE, Past Hon. Secretary, IEI, APSC and Professor, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, CBIT, Hyderabad proposed vote of thanks. (NSS)
