IIFA Awards 2024: “Laapataa Ladies,” “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3,” and “Stree 2” Lead Nominations

The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards 2024 has unveiled its list of nominees, with Kiran Rao’s light-hearted satire *Laapataa Ladies* emerging as the frontrunner with nine nominations. Close behind are the horror-comedy hits *Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3* and *Stree 2 – Sarkate Ka Aatank*, securing seven and six nods, respectively. The silver jubilee edition of the prestigious awards ceremony is set to take place in Jaipur on March 8 and 9, celebrating cinematic excellence across 10 categories.

The Best Picture category features a diverse mix of genres, with *Laapataa Ladies*, *Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3*, *Stree 2 – Sarkate Ka Aatank*, *Kill*, *Article 370*, and *Shaitaan* vying for the top honor. In the Best Direction race, Kiran Rao (*Laapataa Ladies*), Nikhil Nagesh Bhat (*Kill*), Amar Kaushik (*Stree 2*), Siddharth Anand (*Fighter*), Anees Bazmee (*Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3*), and Aditya Suhas Jhambale (*Article 370*) are the top contenders.

The acting categories are packed with stellar performances. For Best Performance in a Leading Role (Female), Nitanshi Goel (*Laapataa Ladies*), Alia Bhatt (*Jigra*), Yami Gautam (*Article 370*), Katrina Kaif (*Merry Christmas*), and Shraddha Kapoor (*Stree 2*) are in the running. On the male side, Sparsh Shrivastava (*Laapataa Ladies*), Rajkummar Rao (*Stree 2*), Kartik Aaryan (*Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3*), Abhishek Bachchan (*I Want To Talk*), and Ajay Devgn (*Shaitaan*) have been nominated.

In the supporting roles, Chhaya Kadam (*Laapataa Ladies*), Vidya Balan (*Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3*), Janki Bodiwala and Jyotika (*Shaitaan*), and Priyamani (*Article 370*) are competing for Best Performance in a Supporting Role (Female). Meanwhile, Ravi Kishan (*Laapataa Ladies*), Abhishek Banerjee (*Stree 2*), Fardeen Khan (*Khel Khel Mein*), Rajpal Yadav (*Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3*), and Manoj Pahwa (*Jigra*) are nominated for Best Performance in a Supporting Role (Male).

The Best Performance in a Negative Role category sees Raghav Juyal (*Kill*), R Madhavan (*Shaitaan*), Gajraj Rao (*Maidaan*), Vivek Gomber (*Jigra*), and Arjun Kapoor (*Singham Again*) battling it out.

The Best Music Direction category is a tight contest, with Sachin-Jigar earning dual nominations for their work on *Stree 2* and *Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya*. Tanishk Bagchi is also nominated twice, for *Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3* and *Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya*. Other nominees include Ram Sampath (*Laapataa Ladies*) and AR Rahman (*Maidaan*).

In the Playback Singer (Male) category, Arijit Singh (*Laapataa Ladies*), Karan Aujla (*Bad Newz*), Diljit Dosanjh with Baadshah (*Crew*), Jubin Nautiyal (*Article 370*), and Mitraz (*Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya*) are the top contenders. Shreya Ghoshal dominates the Playback Singer (Female) category with two nominations for *Laapataa Ladies* and *Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3*. She is joined by Madhubanti Bagchi (*Stree 2*), Rekha Bhardwaj (*Kill*), and Shilpa Rao (*Fighter*).
