IMD Forecasts Rains in Hyderabad on Thursday; Yellow Alert Issued

As per the latest reports, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that rain will likely lash Hyderabad today. Aside from that, thundershowers and at times intense spells are expected.

The weather department has issued a yellow alert, predicting that all seven zones of Hyderabad, Charminar, Khairatabad, Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Secunderabad, and Serilingampally, will receive light to moderate rainfall on October 6.

Hyderabad will continue to receive rain until October 8, according to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS). The maximum and minimum temperatures in the city are expected to be in the 29-31 and 20-22 degrees Celsius ranges, respectively.

Meanwhile, heavy rain is expected in a few areas of the state over the next three days. The maximum temperature is expected to be between 30 and 33 degrees Celsius.

Rains lashed Hyderabad yesterday, disrupting normal life. Many areas, particularly the old city of Hyderabad, experienced waterlogging, and traffic flow was severely impacted.

Many areas, including Amberpet, Moosarambagh, and Malakpet, Champapet, IS Sadan, Santoshnagar, Saidabad, Chadarghat, and Koti, experienced heavy rainfall. Water entered some of the city’s low-lying areas, causing severe damage.

Three youths were killed and two others were injured in the Warangal district as a result of lighting. They were partying at the time of the incident. The injured were taken to Wardhannapet Government Hospital.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Telangana had the second-highest extra rainfall of 46% among the 29 states and eight Union Territories.

Aside from Telangana, only Ladakh has had a significant excess of rainfall, with 69%. The southwest monsoon brought an additional 6% of rain to the country this year.

Telangana received 46% more rain this year than the previous year when it received 39% more. The state experienced excess rainfall of 9%, 145%, and 35% in June, July, and September of 2022, respectively. In August, the season’s average rainfall fell by 20%.
