The state government has proactively implemented renewable energy with 4511.77MW of solar energy developed under decentralized distribution generation.
In a release issued on Monday by Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO), the state reported saving 1005 million rupees through energy conservation activities, including installing LED streetlights, and energy-efficient appliances, and implementing energy conservation building codes for commercial buildings.
A program to replace inefficient streetlights with energy-efficient LEDs has been launched in all gram panchayats. In this way, the government plans to save approximately 50% of the amount of energy consumed each year.
Furthermore, a state policy on electric vehicles and energy storage solutions for 2020 has been developed by the state government. The first two lakh electric two-wheelers and the first 5,000 electric four-wheelers will receive a 100% exemption from road tax and registration fees on the basis of the policy.
Approximately 1.2 lakh people are expected to be employed directly as a result of investment in the amount of Rs 30,000 crore. In the city, 32,000 electric vehicles are plugged into 156 charging stations at present. In the next few years, TSREDCO intends to install 1,000 chargers across the state.
A number of initiatives undertaken by the State government since the formation of a separate State in 2014 have led Telangana to be ranked fourth in solar energy in India. They said Telangana generates 4,511 megawatts of solar and 128 megawatts of wind energy through Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO).
It was after the State’s formation that the State government made special efforts to develop renewable energy sources and to increase solar and wind power.
What is Renewable Energy?
Energy derived from natural sources that replenish faster than it is consumed is referred to as renewable energy. Sources like sunlight and wind, for example, are constantly replenished.
