Imran Khan Oath Ceremony: Sidhu visits Pakistan High Commission in Delhi

Former cricketer and Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu visited the Pakistan High Commission here to discuss formalities ahead of his visit to the Pakistan to attend PM-in-waiting Imran Khan’s oath taking ceremony on August 18.

Sidhu later told reporters that he has sought the Centre’s clearance for attending the ceremony in Pakistan. “There are some formalities for which I am here. I have applied for government permission. Now, everything depends on India government’s permission,” Mr Sidhu said while leaving the Pakistan High Commission.

Sidhu had earlier hailed Imran Khan’s victory in the Pakistan general elections.

He had also pitched for drastic improvement in Indo-Pak ties – as formal talks are now stalled -saying Imran Khan could be “trusted”. Another cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar on Saturday said he would not be able to make it as he has earlier “commentary commitments”.
