In Asia-Pacific, Hyderabad ranks among top 20 sustainable cities    

According to Knight Frank’s most recent report, Hyderabad has been ranked among the top 20 Asia-Pacific sustainable cities. In terms of Indian cities, it ranks third.

According to the APAC Sustainability Index-2021, four Indian cities ranked in the top 20 sustainable cities in Active Capital Asia-Pacific (APAC)- Rising Capital in Uncertain Times. Commercial real estate in the Asia-Pacific region is dominated by Singapore, Sydney, Wellington, Perth, and Melbourne.

On the basis of urbanization pressure, climate risk, carbon emissions, and government initiatives, 36 cities have been rated. In terms of sustainable commercial real estate projects in the India region, Hyderabad ranked third after Bengaluru and Delhi. As a result of new market dynamics, sustainable development has grown in India.

Due to the commitment to carbon neutrality and Net Zero, Indian developers have enhanced their products in order to meet the requirements of this environmental policy.

A good indication of the real estate sector’s commitment to sustainable development is the fact that four Indian markets feature in the top 20 in the APAC region”, Knight Frank India CMD Shishir Baijal said.

Moreover, the report also stated that India had issued $52.3 billion worth of Green Bonds between 2020 and 2021. The total issuance of green bonds in 2021 reached $6.8 billion, making India the sixth largest country in APAC in terms of the total issue.
