Hyderabad: In the wake of the December 7 Assembly elections fast approaching, the sleuths of Income Tax department on Thursday conducted raids at over dozen places related to some real estate companies and a city-based biscuits and cookies manufacturing company in connection with alleged tax evasion.
The IT authorities organized raids on the premises of biscuits manufacturing company known as Ravi Foods, which supplies food products in the name of Dukes, Treff and Dynas.
The DSA Builders & Constructions Private Limited with its office at Somajiguda was linked to Ravi Foods.
One of the designated partners of DSA Builders happens to be Veerender Goud Toolla, son of former Home Minister Toolla Devender Goud. Veerender Goud is a TDP candidate who is contesting from Uppal Assembly constituency. Recently, the IT sleuths had conducted raids on Devendar Gouds companies in the north Andhra Pradesh.
Some 20 teams of IT officials raided the places and conducted searches from morning to evening. They also searched the house of Shanta Sriram company Managing Director Maddi Narsaiah and seized several incriminating documents.
Informed sources said the IT officials also conducted searches at the houses of Ravi Foods promoters. The company is into the processed food segment of biscuits, cookies, confectionery, wafers, chocolates and candies since 30 years. (NSS)
