Amidst the second wave of Coronavirus in Indonesia, the government is planning to import medical oxygen tanks.
Indonesia Prepares For Covid 19 Emergency
Budi Gunadi Sadikin announced the plan on Monday during a hearing at the House of Representatives. He said that the ministry has planned to supply a certain number of hospitals with medical oxygen. The hospitals covered in these areas include some of the most populated ones like Java, particularly West Java, Central Java and East Java.

Hospitals are reportedly facing shortage in the supply of medical oxygen. In the Yogyakarta province, the regional Covid 19 Task Force recently informed the authorities that 63 Covid 19 patients died on July 3-4 in the DR Sardjito General Hospital. The hospital ran out of medical oxygen.
Indonesia on Monday recorded 29,745 new confirmed cases, marking the highest daily spike and bringing the total tally to 2,313,829, the Health Ministry said.
Moderna Vaccine Gets Green Signal In Indonesia
The above move comes after the Indonesia government recently gave a green signal to Moderna Covid 19 vaccine for emergency use. The National Agency of Drug and Food Control announced in a virtual conference regarding the vaccine.
The country has four vaccines available for use. It includes China’s Sinovac, Sinopharm, AstraZeneca (via COVAX), and Moderna.
Recently, the Indonesia government has decided to deploy 53,000 personnel for emergency restrictions to be imposed in both Java and Bali. Inspector General Imam Sugianto said that the joint force consists of 21, 000 policemen and 32, 000 soldiers. The aim is to curb the rise of the pandemic virus and strictly follow the Covid 19 guidelines across the country.
Following this, the government has decided to impose an emergency as the Covid 19 cases continue to surge following the entry of the Delta variant.
