Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy said on Thursday that the initiatives taken up by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao have resulted in the strengthening of the rural economy, which has resulted in a significant improvement in the quality of living and also in the living conditions of people in the villages of Telangana.
While presenting awards to grama panchayats selected under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Panchayat Sashakthikaran Puraskar here, Jagadish Reddy stated that the State government was working with the target of achieving self reliance of villages. The State government was developing all grama panchayats while also ensuring transparency in the implementation of welfare schemes.
District Collector S Venkat Rao said the sarpanches of grama panchayats had a crucial role to play in the development of villages. The elected representatives of local bodies including ZPTCs, MPPs and MPTCs should also strive for the development of the villages, he added.
Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy also recently stated that the State government was committed to the comprehensive development of villages and asked the people to become part of the development process.

Inaugurating a grama panchayat office building in Kothagudem village in Athmakur(S) mandal, he stated that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao believed Mahatma Gandhi’s saying that the future of the country lay in its villages and was taking up initiatives for the development of villages. The State government’s schemes had strengthened the rural economy by reviving caste-based professions in villages, he said.
