Delhi/Hyderabad: Former Union minister S Jaipal Reddy and CPI leader Dr K Narayana today condemned the arrest of revolutionary writer Varavara Rao by the Maharashtra police.
Speaking to the media at Delhi, Jaipal Reddy said it was not proper for the governments to arrest peoples’ unions’ leaders. In Hyderabad, Narayana alleged that the arrest of Varavara Rao was only to kill him. He said the arrest of Varavara Rao was atrocious and questioned the Central government to tell as to what was the need to arrest Varavara Rao. He said the arrest of Varavara Rao was an example for the “suppressive attitude” of the Narendra Modi government. (NSS)
